Overview
The activity will provide practical instruction and education in POCUS applications relevant to inpatient medicine, including cardiovascular, pulmonary, abdominal and DVT ultrasound.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply fundamental ultrasound physics and knobology principles to optimize image acquisition across cardiac, thoracic, abdominal, and vascular applications.
  2. Perform focused cardiac, lung, gallbladder/renal, and lower-extremity DVT ultrasound examinations using appropriate probe selection, patient positioning, and standardized scanning protocols.
  3. Differentiate normal from abnormal sonographic findings in common Internal Medicine conditions such as heart failure, pneumonia, pleural effusion, cholelithiasis, hydronephrosis, and DVT.
  4. Incorporate POCUS findings into real-time clinical decision-making to improve diagnostic accuracy and enhance patient management in the outpatient or inpatient setting.
  5. Demonstrate improved confidence and competency in bedside ultrasound use through hands-on practice with live models and faculty-guided feedback.

Accreditation
HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
