Overview
Unexpected morbidity or mortality cases occur in hospitals. These cases often occur due to errors which must be identified, trends explored and interventions for prevention of future errors developed. Satisfy institutional and departmental requirements. National Patient Safety Goals: Universal protocol for preventing wrong site, wrong procedure and wrong person surgery. Morbidity and Mortality Conference for the Sunrise Health GME Surgery Program. Surgical Cases are presented from the following week to education residents and faculty.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply lessons learned from the review of patient morbidity and mortality.
  2. Evaluate opportunities to improve standards of care, treatment errors and how to avoid those errors in practice.
  3. Examine a succinct overview of a patient’s condition and/or complications then analyze corresponding literature.

Accreditation

HCA Healthcare Graduate Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
